Acupuncture
Theory
For
thousands of years, practioners of acupuncture have call this intelligent
energy Qi (prounced “chee”).
Qi is the vital energy in all living things, from the tallest tree,
to the smallest cell. It is necessary for growth, development, movement,
protection against illness and disease. Qi flows as an
invisible current throughout the body and circulates in pathways
called Meridians. Meridians
disperse Qi throughout the body
Acupuncture
has been used by the Chinese for thousands of years. It is fast becoming
the alternative method of choice by many westerners. The ancient
Chinese lived and worked in nature. They observed that the Five Elements:
fire, earth, metal, water, and wood exist in everything, everyone,
and are essential for life. The Chinese recognized, that there must
be a balance of the five elements. Each of the elements has a corresponding
color, sound, emotion, and odor which can be perceived when a particular
element is out of balance. Five-Element (5E) Acupuncture asserts
that every human being is born with, or at some point in their life develops an imbalance in the natural functioning of these Five Elements. This
imbalance becomes the root cause of illness
of the body, mind, and spirit. The job of the Classical 5E practitioner
is to determine which element is the primary imbalance. Once it is
correctly identified and treated, all the other elemental imbalances
will resolve naturally. This elegant system recognizes that the health
of each individual's body, mind, and spirit must be taken into account
to fully understand and treat the cause of disease. In addition, there
can be a number of energetic blocks which overlay the imbalances of
the Five Elements and must be removed before treatment on the root imbalances
will be effective.
Western medicine focuses predominately
on the body. The use of medications to cover up stiffness, aches, pains
and reduce inflammation, may be masking a deeper problem. These are signals
from your body, telling you that something is weakened, out of balance,
or blocked. Acupuncture can uncover the underlying cause of the
problem. With acupuncture, we have the means to treat, not only the body,
but the mind and the energetic level directly, according to the unique
needs of each patient. Using acupuncture we assist nature to heal from
the inside out.
